Shockwave Therapy For Tendonitis

Tendonitis is a condition where tendons, thick fibrous cords that attach muscle to bone, get inflamed or irritated, causing pain and tenderness.

In the case of tendonitis, the pain usually starts at the site of the tendon and may spread to the surrounding areas. The severity of the pain also varies – in some cases it is gradual and manageable while in others it is sudden and severe.

Patients most commonly complain about tendonitis pain in their shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees, and heels. Some of the common tendonitis problems include tennis elbow and jumper’s knee.

Shockwave therapy significantly reduces the pain that accompanies tendinopathies and helps improve mobility and functionality. The MASTERPULS® Ultra MP50, MP100, and MP200 and MASTERPULS® ONE machines, from Storz Medical, available at Shockwave Canada, can be used in the treatment of tendinopathies.

Patients who sought treatment for patellar tendonitis saw a 76% improvement.
